Alternative Learning Academy The Alternative Learning Academy staff collaborates with students, families, and the community to maximize the unique potential of each student’s postgraduate vocational, social, and personal success. Students attending ALA are challenged with meeting rigorous NYS standards in addition to the social and emotional challenges they bring with them. Students work closely with teachers and mental health staff on the Commitment, Safety and Respect components of the school program. AHS staff members are highly trained in meeting the academic, emotional and behavioral needs of the students. The program consists of three academies that provide students with a smaller, more flexible environment. Students may participate in career and technical education classes offered at multiple levels. Multi-Occupational and Bridge classes teach skills that will transition students to the next level. EMCC classes provide students with the job skills necessary to transition to today’s highly competitive workforce. Everyone on the staff is committed in empowering students to work to reach their goals and dreams. For more information, call Rosetta Ealy, Principal ALA, Foreman Center Campus, 585-249-7250.
