Preschool program

Monroe #1 BOCES Special Education Preschool Program will strive to create a nurturing, educational environment that will provide an innovative child/family-centered program. Families, staff, administrators, and communities work hand-in-hand to allow children to reach their optimal potential.

Special Class in an Integrated Setting

Monroe #1 BOCES and the East Irondequoit Central School District collaborate to offer a program at the East Irondequoit Early Childhool Center. An additional integrated program is offered at Teens 'n Tots Preschool, located at the Lois E. Bird/Morgan School in East Rochester, NY. Typically developing peers and children with disabilities are placed together in classroom settings.

Specialized Programs for Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Classroom placements are offered for young children with autism spectrum disorder. These comprehensive programs use the principles of behavior theory and developmental theory to systematically teach skills in all areas. These are most commonly know as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), DIRâ„¢ (Developmental Individual Difference Relationship Based Approach), and TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communications Handicapped Children. Our staff has a high level of expertise and training in all of these approaches.
